Meetings: Fridays 1955-2155

Grove Rd - Doury Rd Junction, Ballymena

The St. Columba's Scout programme is based around a wide selection of badges, many of which contribute towards the aim of providing every Scout with the Chief Scout Gold Award. Scouts is not about playing football for a couple of hours. On a typical evening, we open with flag-break before playing a few different games mixed in with other activities. The games vary from week to week and if we're not preparing for a camp or similar then activities might include First Aid, compass/map work, pioneering, communication tactics, cooking and so much more... There really is something for everyone!

There are several camps each year which can be either static, at an activity centre, or expedition-type. These are supplemented with other activities outside the hall which are arranged occasionally, such as a canoe trip up the River Bann or a day hike at the coast.

St. Columba’s Scouts also take an active part in District activities where troops meet to compete or just have fun together. Whether it be football, bowling, table-quiz, first aid, uni-hock, go-karting, surf-kayaking, orienteering or whatever, St. Columba’s Scouts do their best in all!

The programme and activities are provided by leaders Kenneth Hughes (aka Skip), Richard McQuillan, Andy Clarke and Aaron Coates along with Young Leaders and supported graciously by occasional helpers. Scouts are also encouraged to offer their own ideas for things they want to do and the leaders will do their best to make it happen.

Check out some more of our photos below! For more information, speak to a leader, Contact Us here, or email: info@stcolumbasscouts.co.uk. Newcomers are always most welcome!

The code of conduct is based around The Scout Law and The Scout Promise encompasses the mindset which is hoped to be achieved by every Scout.

The Scout Promise

On my honour, I promise that I will do my best,
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people,
And to keep the Scout Law.

The Scout Law

  1. A Scout is to be trusted.
  2. A Scout is loyal.
  3. A Scout is friendly and considerate.
  4. A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts.
  5. A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
  6. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
  7. A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.
All badges that can be obtained during a Scouts time with us can be found on the scout website badge section. Correct placement of badges on uniform can be found here or ask a leader!
